In 1988, Miguel joined the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art at the age of 15 and remained with the School for 13 years. During that time he was trained daily by the esteemed director of the school, the late Dr. Guilherme Borba. During his time with the School, Miguel participated in numerous exhibitions all over Europe, and was one of the select riders to train and perform the airs above the ground. The Portuguese School is one of the four great equestrian schools of Europe. Miguel`s training methods are in keeping with that classical tradition.
Miguel also has extensive experience with the competitive side of dressage - he is an international competitor in Doma Clasica (showing both Iberians and other breeds) and his own Lusitano, Vinagre, was preselected for the Portuguese Olympic team.
Alongside his equestrian training, he graduated as an Agricultural Engineer with a thesis on the Portuguese Association of Lusitano Horse Breeders Miguel has advised the herd of horses for several Yeguadas, worked as a Tecnical director for XXX
Miguel is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Potuguese and his teaching style is respectful, supportive and classicaly correct. He is also happy to work with riders of all levels and in keeping with centuries-old oral tradition he was trained in, he is commited to working with riders and their horses on a continuing basis...
